Life360 offers Crash Detection to all members in the U.S., Canada, and the UK.
When Life360 detects that you have experienced a vehicle collision, we'll contact you and any emergency contacts you've specified in the app.
For Gold and Platinum members, Life360 will dispatch 911 emergency services when necessary.
How It Works
Crash Detection relies on sensors in your phone to detect a significant impact whenever the vehicle is moving at least 25 mph. This means that it won’t detect minor accidents like “fender-benders.”
In order for Life360 to detect a crash:
- The vehicle needs to be moving at a minimum speed of 25 mph for at least 30 seconds prior to the collision
- The vehicle needs to come to a sudden, complete stop after the collision
- The phone needs to have more than 10% battery life and not be in power-saving mode
- The phone needs to have a strong cellular signal
- The phone's location permissions need to be set to allow location "Always" (not "While in Use")
NOTE: Even if all the criteria above are met, Life360 may not detect all major collisions due to network outages, algorithm error, availability of GPS location data, sensor error on the mobile device, and crash location outside of a wireless service coverage area among others. See the Terms of Use for complete details and limitations.
