All Life360 users in the U.S. get our free SOS feature to alert your Circle members and emergency contacts** when you’re feeling unsafe and need help. You can access the SOS feature by tapping on the SOS button above the menu of Circle members. If you haven’t yet set a PIN for SOS, you will be prompted to complete an onboarding flow including providing a PIN to cancel an SOS. If you have set your PIN, you will be taken to a screen with a button: “Tap to send SOS”. You can press and hold this button when you feel unsafe, are about to enter a dangerous situation, or need help. When you release the button, a countdown of 10 seconds will start and an option to enter your pin will appear. If you no longer wish to send an SOS alert to your Circle or emergency contacts, you can enter your PIN during the countdown to cancel the alert. Otherwise, once the countdown completes, Life360 will notify your Circle members and emergency contacts. They will receive a text and notification in the Life360 app alerting them that you have triggered the SOS with a prompt to view your location through the app.
Even after the countdown, you have 20 minutes to open the SOS screen and enter your PIN to cancel the SOS alert before it resets. Canceling the alarm within 20 minutes will contact your Circle members and emergency contacts via text and a Life360 app notification letting them know that you are safe.
**Emergency contacts are people you would like Life360 to contact if we detect an emergency. In order to add emergency contacts, go to the 'Safety' tab in the Life360 app and tap on the 'Emergency Contacts' widget. Emergency contacts will not join your Circle and won’t see your location unless you send an SOS. The people you designate need to accept your invitation to be an emergency contact for your Circle in order to receive SOS phone calls and texts from Life360.
