Unable to Find My Phone With Tile

If your Tile is within Bluetooth range of your mobile device, you can ring your mobile device by quickly and firmly double-pressing the button on the Tile itself.

Note: If you have more than one phone or tablet, the Tile will ring the phone that it connects to first. To prevent this, temporarily disable Bluetooth on any other phone within range that is logged in to the same account.

Phone Does Not Ring

If your phone does not ring after you double-press the Tile button:

1. Ring your Tile from your phone.
   • If your Tile did not ring:
     • The battery may need to be replaced. 
     • If your Tile is connected to your Life360 app, check that its Press Action is set to Ring My Phone.
       • If the Press Action is set to Discreet SOS Alert (2024 models only), the Ring Your Phone feature will not work.
   • If the Find button for the Tile is not showing, double-press the Tile button. This tune signals that the Tile app is connecting to your phone. The tune will play even if the Tile app is not running on the phone and the Tile is trying to connect.
2. If the Tile is not connecting, check your phone’s settings: 
   • Verify your phone’s operating system (OS) is on a supported version. (iOS or Android).
   • Check if Find Your Phone is set to On in the Tile app. 
     • Open the Tile app.
     • Select the Tile that you want to check.
     • Scroll down and tap on Find Your Phone.
     • Verify that it is set to On.
   • iOS Devices
     • Background App Refresh is set to On.
     • Location Services are set to Always and Precise Location is set to On. 
     • Notifications:
       • Tap on Settings.
       • Scroll down and tap on the Tile app. 
       • Tap on Notifications and set to Allow.
       • Tap to add a checkmark on the Lock Screen, Notifications Center, and Banners.
       • Set the Banner style to Persistent.
   • Android Devices:
     • If you use any operating system feature that force-stops or closes the Tile app, it will no longer function in the background (for example, Samsung’s Clear Memory Feature). 
     • Check that the Notifications and Location Services permission settings have been granted to the Tile app. 
       • If you cannot find the settings for Location Services and Notifications, use the Search box in the Settings home screen. 
     • For settings at App Level, make sure there is no setting that is blocking Location Services, Notifications, and Sounds.

Note: App settings may vary by your device’s manufacturer and Android version. If you need help finding any of the settings listed above, refer to the device manufacturer’s support site.

Additional Settings to Verify

• Battery-saving mode (low battery mode, battery optimization, battery saver, etc.) must be turned off. 
  • If it is on, either disable this mode or add the Tile app as an exception.
• Disable any Do Not Disturb modes on your mobile device to ensure that notifications are not blocked. 
  • The Tile app will not be able to make your phone ring if Do Not Disturb is enabled. A notification will still appear on the phone's lock screen that Tile is ringing your phone, but there will be no sound with the alert.
• For older iOS devices
  1. Open your phone’s Settings. 
  2. Tap on Battery.
  3. Select Battery Health.
  4. Check that the Maximum Capacity is above 80% and confirm that there is no Important Battery Message about your device’s battery health.

If you are still unable to ring your mobile device:

1. Force close all apps from your recent apps page.
2. Restart your phone.
3. If your Tile is a 2018 model or older, reboot your Tile by pressing and holding down the Tile button on the Tile for 10 seconds. 
4. Relaunch the Tile app.
5. Allow up to 2 minutes for your Tile to connect.
6. Once you see the Find button, exit the app (do not force close the app or remove it from the recent apps page).
7. Verify if the issue is resolved.
