If you ever feel unsafe or are in an emergency, the SOS feature in the Life360 app lets you send a silent help alert with your location to all members of your Circle and your emergency contacts. You can send a SOS Alert from your phone or with a compatible 2024 model Tile.
Alert Types
The type of alerts you and your Circle members receive when an SOS event is triggered depends on your membership level.
- Free - All Circle members will receive a push notification from the app. Emergency contacts will receive text alerts.

Gold/Platinum - All Circle members and emergency contacts will receive push notifications from the app and text alerts.
- SOS with 24/7 Emergency Dispatch is available for Gold and Platinum members in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
Note: An SOS Alert is sent as a Critical Alert and will make a sound even if your phone’s sound is set to vibrate or silent.
Set Up SOS Alerts
In the Life360 app
- Tap the SOS button at the bottom of the map.
- Tap on Begin Setup and follow the prompts.
- Tap on Practice SOS.
With a Tile
To set up SOS Alerts with a 2024 model Tile, it must be linked to your Life360 app.
- Tap on the keys icon at the bottom of the map.
- Scroll down to and select the Tiled item you want to edit.
- Tap on the current press action.
- Select Send Discreet SOS Alert.
- A screen appears to allow you to send a test alert.
Send an SOS Alert
In the Life360 app
- Tap the SOS button at the bottom of the map.
- Tap on the Tap to Send SOS button. If you feel unsafe but don’t need to alert your Circle right away, you can press and hold the Tap to Send SOS button. When you release the SOS button, a 10-second countdown will begin.
- Once the 10-second countdown is complete, all members in your Circle and emergency contacts will receive a push notification and/or text to alert them that you triggered the SOS. There will also be a prompt to view your location in the Life360 app.
With a Tile
To send an SOS alert with a 2024 model Tile, it must be linked to your Life360 app and the Press Action set to Send Discreet SOS Alert.
- Triple-press the button on your Tile.
- The Tile plays a discreet double beep and the phone will vibrate to indicate the SOS alert was sent. A notification appears on your phone stating that an SOS alert has been triggered from your Tile device and a 15-second countdown begins.
- Once the 15-second countdown is complete, all members in your Circle and emergency contacts will receive a push notification and/or text to alert them that you triggered the SOS. They will also see a prompt to view your location in the Life360 app.
- For Gold and Platinum members in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, emergency dispatch services will be contacted.
Note: SOS Alerts only work on 2024 Tile models. If your compatible Tile device is not sending an SOS Alert, you may need to check the connection or battery.
Cancel an SOS Alert
- Swipe left on the slider at the bottom of the screen.
- No alert will be sent if you cancel the SOS before the countdown ends.
