This feature is currently in beta and available to a limited number of members in the US only.
You can link an Apple Watch to your Life360 Circle, allowing you to see the watch user’s location and receive alerts without a phone.
Life360 on Apple Watch is a lighter experience than the phone app. Location updates may be less frequent, and certain features such as Emergency Dispatch and Crash Detection are not available.
Add an Apple Watch
What You Need
- A cellular Apple Watch with its own phone number. GPS-only watches are not supported.
- An iPhone with the latest version of the Life360 app.
- All permissions enabled on the phone and the Watch. Watch-specific permissions include:
- Location
- Health
- Notifications
The Life360 Apple Watch app experience is designed for people without a smartphone. When you add the Life360 app to an Apple Watch, it will create a new account linked to the manager’s account. If an existing account is logged in on a phone, you cannot use that account to sign in on the watch.
On the Apple Watch
- Open the Watch App Store and download the Life360 app.
- Open the Life360 app on the watch.
- Tap on Allow for all required permissions.
- Tap on Yes to confirm the watch is cellular-enabled and has a phone number.
- A QR code appears on the watch screen.
On Your Phone
- Use your camera to scan the QR code displayed on the Apple Watch.
- If the QR code has expired, tap on Retry.
- When the Life360 app opens, tap on Get started.
- Enter your child's name and tap on Continue.
- Enter their birthday and tap on Continue.
- If your child is under 13, you'll need to provide parental consent and verify your identity with a government-issued ID and a selfie. This is required by US law (COPPA) to protect children's privacy.
- Choose a photo for their profile, or tap on Skip if you don’t want to add one.
Once setup is complete, your child's watch will appear in your Circle with a watch icon next to their avatar on the map and next to their name on their profile. You can manage their account at any time.
Using Life360 on an Apple Watch
Members who are wearing a watch have a different view of their history. You’ll see a big-picture view of the places they’ve been throughout the day.
The watch wearer's surroundings, environmental conditions, watch settings, and other factors may impact location accuracy by up to 100 meters.
A watch wearer can:
- See the location and distance of other Circle members.
- Send Quick Notes to the Circle.
- Send a Limited SOS alert to Circle members.
- A Limited SOS alert notifies only Circle members. It does not contact 911 or emergency services.
