Critical alerts are high-priority push notifications that will bypass device notification settings, such as Mute or Do Not Disturb. Life360 sends a critical alert push notification when an SOS event is triggered or a crash is detected involving you or a member of your Circle.
Critical alerts are supported on iOS devices and need to be enabled in your device’s settings.
Crash Detection Critical Alerts
If Life360 detects you were in a crash, you will receive a critical alert push notification to check if you’re okay. Tap on it to open the app and choose from three response options to update your Circle members.
Note: After you tap on the notification, a five-minute timer will start. If you do not select one of the three options before the timer runs out, a critical alert push notification will be sent to your Circle members to let them know a sudden motion was detected on your phone.
False alarm
No crash occurred (i.e., dropped your phone)
- No critical alert push notification is sent to your Circle members if this option is chosen before the five-minute timer runs out. If you choose this option after the five-minute timer is up, a critical alert push notification is sent to let your Circle members know there was no collision and you are okay.
There was a crash, but I’m OK
You were in a crash but don’t need help.
- This option sends a critical alert push notification and an SMS message to members in your Circle to let them know you are okay, along with the address of your accident and an option to call you.
Call 411 now
You were in a crash and need help.
- This option immediately calls emergency services. A critical alert push notification and an SMS message are sent to members in your Circle to let them know that you were in a crash and have called emergency services, along with the address of your accident.
