To maximize the benefits of the Life360 app, enable the following:

Bluetooth

Bluetooth detects and connects to devices near you to improve location updates.

iOS

iPhone-level permissions:

1. On your device's home screen, tap Settings.
2. Scroll down to and select Bluetooth.
3. Toggle Bluetooth to On.

Life360 in-app permissions:

1. On your device's home screen, tap Settings.
2. Scroll down to and select Privacy.
3. Select Bluetooth.
4. Scroll down to and select Life360, and toggle Bluetooth to On.

Note: The in-app permissions setting is available on the Life360 app version 22.1.0 or later.

Android

1. Go to your device’s Settings screen. 
2. Scroll down to and select Life360.
3. Scroll down and select Bluetooth or the Bluetooth symbol.
4. Toggle Bluetooth to On.

Location

Location data enables the in-app map, Place Alerts, and location sharing with your Circle.

iOS

1. On your device's home screen, tap Settings.
2. Scroll down to and select Life360.
3. Tap Location.
4. Tap Always, and toggle Precise Location to On.

Android

1. Go to your device’s Settings screen.
2. Scroll down to and select Location.
3. For Pixel devices:
1. Scroll down to and select Life360.
2. Tap Allow all the time.
3. Toggle Use precise location to On.
4. For Samsung devices:
1. Scroll down to and select App permissions.
2. Scroll down to and select Life360.
3. Tap Allow all the time.
4. Toggle Use precise location to On.

Push Notifications

Stay up-to-date with check-ins, alerts, and messages from your Circle.

iOS

1. On your device home screen, tap Settings.
2. Scroll down to and select Life360.
3. Tap Notifications.
4. Toggle Allow Notifications to On.
5. Toggle Time Sensitive Notifications to On.

Android

1. Go to your device’s Settings screen.
2. Scroll down to and select Apps.
3. Scroll down to and select Life360.
4. Toggle Notifications to On.

Motion Sensors

Motion data enables driving analytics, Driving Safety features, and Crash Detection. 

iOS

1. On your device home screen, tap Settings.
2. Scroll down to and select Life360.
3. Toggle Motion & Fitness to On.

Android

1. Go to your device’s Settings screen.
2. Scroll down to and select Apps.
3. For Pixel devices:
1. Scroll down to and select Life360.
2. Select Permissions, then Physical Activity.
3. Tap Allow.
4. For Samsung devices:
1. Scroll down to and select App permissions.
2. Scroll down to and select Life360.
3. Select Physical Activity.
4. Tap Allow.

Additional Settings to improve performance

Wi-Fi

Keep WiFi turned on, even when not connected to improve location accuracy.

Cellular Data

Allow the use of Cellular Data for the Life360 app to function properly.

Mobile Data or Data Usage

Turn off Data Saver and Limit mobile data usage modes.

Battery Optimization

For Android phones, set to Not optimized.

Nearby Devices

For Android phones, permission to locate Nearby Devices via Bluetooth must be set to Allow.
