Pet GPS switches between cellular, Bluetooth, and WiFi for the strongest and most battery-efficient signal. This means it works indoors, outdoors, and over long distances and provides real-time tracking while extending battery life.
Pet GPS has a rechargeable battery that can last up to 14 days on a single charge, depending on use. In Reserve Mode, the battery can last up to 6 months.
Battery Life
The battery life of your Pet GPS depends on factors such as:
- The frequency of location updates.
- Activating Escaped Pet Mode.
- Frequent LED use.
- A weak GPS or Wi-Fi signal.
- Extreme hot or cold temperatures.
- The time your pet spends outside of a Place (Power Saving Zone).
You will receive a low battery notification in the Life360 app when your Pet GPS battery drops below 10%, and a critical battery notification if it drops below 6%.
Reserve Mode
Your Pet GPS will enter Reserve Mode when the battery drops below 6%. In Reserve Mode, the Pet GPS will only connect via bluetooth and provide occasional location updates when it connects to a nearby phone to preserve battery.
Power Saving Mode
Your Pet GPS enters Power Saving Mode when it is in a Place, and will not provide live tracking. While in Power Saving Mode, the device will update its location once every 24 hours to conserve battery. The Pet GPS will update its location as soon as it leaves a Place.
Note: If the Pet GPS is within Bluetooth range of a member while in a Place, the Power Saving Banner will not show and the Pet GPS will match the location of the member it is connected to.
Charge Your Pet GPS
- Press down on the side buttons and remove the Pet GPS from the mount.
- Plug the provided charging cable into the back of the Pet GPS. The LED will begin a slow pulse.
- When your Pet GPS is fully charged, you will receive a push notification and the LED will turn solid. Depending on the battery level, charging time can take up to 2 hours.
- Remove the charging cable and reattach it to the back attachment.
Note: Some charging cables and power adapters may be more effective than others. Avoid charging your Pet GPS for more than two hours. Excessive charging can degrade battery performance over time.
