How Location Works
Your Pet GPS switches between three technologies to find the strongest and most battery-efficient signal:
- GPS uses satellite signals to track your pet outdoors. Accuracy may be reduced indoors or in areas with low cell coverage.
- Bluetooth detects your Pet GPS at close range and is used when your pet is near a Circle member’s phone with bluetooth enabled, such as inside your home or yard.
- WiFi is used only when a WiFi network is set up within a Place, helping the Pet GPS conserve battery. A Pet GPS within a Place or connected to WiFi will not provide live tracking until it leaves the Place boundary.
Improve Location Accuracy
If your Pet GPS is not showing the correct location, check the following:
- Your Pet GPS is charged to at least 6% to avoid Reserve Mode.
- The pet’s main Place radius is configured correctly in the Life360 app.
- The Pet GPS is in an area with good cell coverage. Location accuracy can also be impacted by environmental factors such as cloud cover, trees, buildings, and other structures.
Note: If your pet's location appears stuck or isn't updating, refresh your Life360 app. If you have the Pet GPS with you, you can reboot it.
